Well called to check on 1 of my form 4's today, and was told it went into problem status on 8/16/12. The lady said the problem was nc statue wasnt on there as reson. Thats wierd because I always put the same reason down. I always put for all lawfull purposes. And never had a problem. She problem was sent out for correction and I would have stamp within 2 weeks. My questions to the hive are-
1. Do they send that letter to me or dealer? 2. Do I have redo the whole form 4 or do they send original with problem, and you white out and put what they want it to say? 3. If you have to redo the form 4 does cleo have to sign the new one ? 4. Does anyone what you have to put in for reason as per n.c. General statue ? Thanks guys all help is greatly appreciated as I have never one in problem status, and my dealer doesnt know anything about it either. Only good thing I guess is my wait is about over. Almost fogot the form 4 is for a suppressor if that matters. |

Almost fogot the form 4 is for a suppressor if that matters. If you live in North Carolina all NFA Transfers must refer to NC statute 14-288.8 for research, development, experimentation. You should get the letter, and you should be able to correct it on the form and just send it right back. At least all my problem forms I was able to do that way. I had two form 1s returned for the same reason. I had put down just "all lawful purposes". I simply added to that "and for scientific and experimental purposes as provided by NC General Statute 14-288.8". Both forms were approved without any further issue.
A form 4 will be returned to your dealer. You can just write in the additional language (what I did), or redo the form. If you redo the form you will need the CLEO to sign off again. |

This is the long of the short of it. Dealer will get it, correct the problems, mail back, have approved stamp shortly. |
| Thanks for the replys guys. Its just strange that they want the statue on there now, when all lawfull purpose normally works with dana pickles. I wonder if its gregg stimmell, I heard alot of nc forms right now are being signed by him. You guys with corrections, when you mailed your corrected forms back, was 2 weeks about right till you had the approved form back? |

I had three returned for problem status in June, two because I put "all lawful purposes" and not the NC specific language, were form 1s and returned to me. The other, a form 4, was returned to my dealer because when the dealer filled out the form they put my name and "trustee" under the name of the trust. It was returned to have my name removed, which is interesting because the same dealer had other form 4s returned in the past because they didn't put the name of the trustee under the name of the trust. Anyway, here was my experience: Form 1 #1, mailed on Monday, Arrived at NFA on Wednesday, Approved on Wednesday, back in my mail box on Saturday, Signed by Dana Pickles Form 1 #2, mailed on Monday, Arrived at NFA on Wednesday, Approved about 3 1/2 weeks later, back n my mail box a couple of days later, Signed by Greg Stimmell Form 4 #1, mailed on Monday, Arrived at NFA on Wednesday, Approved about 3 1/2 weeks later (same day as form 1 above), back at my dealer a couple days later, Signed by Greg Stimmell So, I'd say you shouldn't be more than a month out, but it might also take just a week. |
