Am I redoing the paperwork?

Not yet, I just checked with my bank after reading all of the other posts in the SBR forum about stamps arriving from the September time frame and thinking I never even checked to see if mine cleared.
I will call in the morning. I sent it out 2 day mail trying to avoid all possibility of it getting lost. WTF! |

Something to look into...
The ATF processes your check electronically upon receipt, so depending on your bank's system it may not show up on your bank statement as an actual check payment. I learned this after repeatedly searching my account on-line for cleared checks looking for the $5 check made out to BATFE and finding nothing for weeks. A call to NFA Branch confirmed they had received it long ago and I was told to look for non-check payments on my bank statement for this reason. I did and there it was. It was just not showing up in a check search. |

Glad to hear. I think this would clear up a lot of lost check posts if people knew. ATF scans your check immediately out of the envelope using one of the commercial processing systems and the payment is made instantly. They do not deposit the check conventionally. If your bank subscribes to the same system, then your check info is retained in the process and it shows up as a normal check transaction as if it were deposited. If they are not a subscriber, then it automatically becomes an electronic debit. |
