Now I want to get a class 3 but I have a few questions first...

To make an AR rifle full auto do you register it first or make the build then register it?

Do I just buy a full auto trigger kit and selector and slap those into the lower? Can I use a match trigger or do I need that special trigger in that kit I bought (I have a nice custom trigger but I dont know if converting the rifle calls for a special trigger also) ?

Do I need anything else? Someone once told me you really dont have to change the bolt carrier group... Is this true?

Lots of good advice here.  Listen to them.  Building a full auto anything is a one way ticket to jail.

why would you be in violation of the law with a RDIAS?

Obviously it is Registered, which means pre 86.

Also in regards to carriers. In DI guns there are semi auto carries, full auto carries and colt then made a half circle carrier ( which was cut to go around the sear block that was pinned in their rifles). So depending on your carrier, you may need the correct one.

RDIAS, Registered Lightning Link and RR are the only ways you can get a FA AR.

Why would you think, that?

There is a forum for Class 3.

And a Forum for M-16, SBR's  and Suppressors, Optics,Magazines  as well.
You missed my point

You can not just "build one". You need to find one for sale that was manufactured before 1986 and follow all NFA requirements.  You are looking at a $10,000 to $15,000 investment.

Brother, you got a LOT of reading to do. If you are listening to someone tell you that.....kick him in the junk. You do the things you are talking about and the only thing getting slapped is your ass in jail.

Not really. The R in RDIAS is for registered. So if he had a registered drop in auto sear, it would be registered with the ATF, aka had been made before 1986. If he bought a DIAS out of shot gun news, well, then yeah, he'd be in trouble. But that sear wouldn't be a RDIAS.

TV is what's doing it and o think Sons Of Guns is where moat people are getting the idea from.  Machineguns have always been somethin people want but either assume they need to pay licenses or hear it from other people.  Now they have google so they can find out easier that it's not that hard, just a lot of money.

Also can I have RH-Customs ship stuff to an FPO-AP address?  I'm sure I could put one of those Glock drop in sears to work out here and I know afghan doesn't have MG laws.  Hell I might even try that place in shotgun news that offers the drop in sears seeing as it won't be possessed in the US.  Even if it was an ATF thing wouldn't they get in trouble for illegally exporting an MG?

ITAR may not allow it. Its one thing finding it locally in Afghanistan but having machine gun/pistol parts exported to another country might be frowned upon by the .gov.

ETA. Scratch that. I didnt know RH Customs was in Sweden.

Yes, FCG=Fire Control Group.
Not sure if that post was a question but I'll answer it just the same.
You need an M16 FCG to run an RDIAS so, as stated, full auto FCG + RDIAS is legal.

I doubt it.  By the time people decide to get their 07/C2 they know the answers to all these questions.

Nope, no question.  altopwescap mentioned FCG, and then Got_Guns referred to his post and mentioned Bolt Carriers.  I was just clarifying that he was talking about the FA FCG and not BCG.

Just so I  know that I am not losing my mind......

the part in red was why I commented on the BCG.

I should have made 2 quotes since the FCG was mentioned in my quoted post but the BCG was mentioned in the original post.
