Hello guys. Read the FAQ but still a little unsure.

What can I abbreviate when I engrave my lower. It will be a SBR for a individual

John Smith Reno Nevada

Current ATF opinion is that J. Smith Reno, NV is not acceptable .. but .. Joe Smith Reno, NV is.

The ATF "recognized abbreviations" only include USPS State codes and abbreviations submitted for marking variances (trade names).

You must include your complete first and last names, complete city and complete or abbreviated State (as recognized by the USPS).

I don't have documentation (so don't flame me), but if you call them, they will tell you this.

If your worried about room its not really a problem, I was able to fit John Smith/Sparks, NV in the trigger guard

not worried about room so much as not wanting my full name of the gun. No big deal just wanted to make sure before I get it engraved.

Every form I've submitted had my first name and state abbreviated and they have all been approved.
