Hello everybody, Newbie from oversea around here and I'd like to start with a perhaps difficult question.
I've been reading through all available US laws and regulations concerning the transfer of FA firearms and parts and from what I understand things run like this:

1) After 1986 the purchase of a currently unregistered M14 receiver would only be possible for a SOT class III dealer, if he has an approval from a governmental or a LE organisation
2) In this case this particular receiver would be registered at the BATFE
3) Yet even if this dealer gets to obtain this now registered receiver, he could not sell it to a non-SOT or non-class-III human within the US.
4) But he could sell it to another class III dealer
5) If this receiver would come from outside of the US this dealer would need to have a class I licence (for also importing NFA-related items)

So, are these inferences correct or did I miss something?
And I'd like to allow me one more question. I have found few past auctions or offers for complete M14s that were in the 15 - 25k range.
What would be the price for a M14 receiver (no reweld or something like that, with selector lug).
I appreciate any input and help.
Regards

Is it in the US, or outside? If its outside, its worth whatever a standard M1A would be worth or post sample. $1200 for a full rifle? About that anyway. Maybe $2k at the most. Even if it was made before 1986, if its not in the US, so is not transferable, its not worth what the $15k-$25k you are thinking it would be. Now if you found one that is stashed in the US, and has the paperwork to go with it, then it would be worth $10k+.

Here's the deal.  The M14 receiver needs to have been registered to a US citizen (non-dealer) before 5/19/1986 to be transferable.   Imported receivers are subject to the gun control act of 1968.  They are never transferable unless you get a time machine and go back 42 years.

As far as your other question goes.   The receiver is the MG and worth all of the money.   Anything added to that is just wholesale parts.   The difference in price between a RR and a complete gun is only a few hundred dollars.
