i have been thinking abotu doing a trust because i have been thinking about doing an sbr. but one thing i havent found is, can people on the trust be in different states?

the reason i ask is my wife and i are mass residents but we live in pa because she is stationed in jersey. and all my family is in mass. so if i do a trust i was thinking about haveing my brother and maybe one of my sisters on it just in case something ever happened to me and my wife. but i havent found too many clear answers on trusts involving multiple states.

I think so but you need to make sure your family members can have SBR or what ever you put in your trust in there state

Get a lawyer who knows this stuff.  I paid $500 for a trust and it was WELL worth it!

Yes the trustees can be in different states but you still have to do a 5320.20 to get it into the other state.  You can do it as a permanent move or just temporary.  You can still have the trustees in states that don't allow SBR's but they won't be able to possess the SBR in those states.

that was what i thought, the only real reason to add my brother like i sadi was in the event something ever happed to both of us at the same time (plane crash, car accident what have you).

im just looking to find out more about different states with a trust because we live in pa for now but smeoday will move (she's active duty military so who know how long we will really be here) and we someday may move home to ma but more likely will retire to nh.

so knowing we will move around, i will likely run into diff situations that are not the norm.

i did know though about the 5320.20, that one of the few things i have learned so far.

and while i ralize its easier to get a trust lawyer im on the fence about spending money for smoehting i should be able to do. im just the type of person that hates paying for things i can do myself. thats why learned how to weld. my first rollcage a shop told how much and would be and i said no thank you and went and bought a welder (now 5 cages and one tub job later) and when a body shop told me how much they wanted to paint my car i learned to paint real quick and now i have done about 6 of my own paint jobs, even replaced the full quarters and floors and trunk floor on my 68 camaro before i painted that one. heck its half the reason i build my own guns, the other half is im cheap.

Yes, that's not an issue provided the trustees live in a state/municipality where SBR's are legal to be in possession of.
