Helped a buddy get his Trust made and helped him with his Form 1. When I did my Krink I did not actually put the rifle in the Trust until I got my stamp. I saw a thread here (couldn't find it again) about ATF wanting it in the Trust before the stamp issue. Well, he got his letter the other day and said the weapon had to be in the Trust and they had to have the Schedule A showing it listed.
Good to know since I'm about to send a From 1 in for a SBR AR. |

This guy got his stuff kicked back for not having the lower that was going to be registered as a SBR in his Schedule A. It would seem that the people answering the phones at the ATF are not lining up their info with the examiners. |

I am friends with our local ATF site inspector - while he agrees with the common sense answer to this issue (lower/pistol in trust b4 submission) he says that the even they get contrary responses from the NFA examiners. Guess we'll see if it gets kicked back. |

I sent my Form 1 off with nothing listed in the Schedule A. As I said earlier, I called and the gentleman said it wasn't necessary to have the item listed in the trust yet.
In the schedule A, there is a page with "1. All NFA items." Technically, until the Form 1 is approved, the lower is not an National Firearms Act item. I am curious as to what the outcome will be. I will certainly post what happens, in this same thread. |
