I am somewhat new to NFA as I just Form 1'd an SBR, and I just bought 2 cans that I'm waiting to be Form 3'd to my dealer. I have two questions about interstate travel with my NFA items.
I am in Indiana and I travel to my in-laws in WI a lot. I also go to friends in MN. I have approved travel forms to my in-laws cabin and to my friend's in MN. My questions are: 1. Do I need to get an approved .20 for EACH location within a state I travel to? For example, my form is approved to my in-laws cabin. Do I have to submit another form to take the SBR up there on another trip to another range, or to my parents house (not cabin)? 2. I know it is permissible to store NFA items at friends or relatives as long as they don't have access to them, eg. locked case or safe, only you have the combi. We often go up to in-laws cabin in WI, then on to friends in MN. Suppressors aren't legal in MN, but they are in WI. Can I have in-laws take suppressors in locked case for which only I have the key, from their cabin where we were shooting them to their house where we would pick them up on the way back from MN? Sorry for the long, complicated suggestions, but I thought these were some unique circumstances, and wondered if anyone had any insights. Thanks!! |

Address ––> family, in-laws, some valid address to get you across state line, From there you is free to shoot anywhere.
No form needed for range "A", or cousins, dads farm, (1) form for WI & MN is all you need... leave the suppresors with somebody you trust. I leave stuff at in-laws all the time when visiting, and go off down the road. |

If you said between 4/10/2010 and 4/21/2010, then you would need to file another form 20 to take it during July. |

No problem with dates for misc trips if you do it right –– http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v504/capttoyota/PICT0155p.jpg Agreed, if done right dates won't matter. But if you specify certain dates then don't do it outside of those dates. I just wanted to make the sure OP was clear on that. |

I understand about the date ranges HOW to travel interstate with my NFA toys. My two questions were about being able to go elsewhere besides the specific address on the form and whether a relative could drive my "locked in a box that only I have the key to" suppressor from cabin in WI back to their house in WI while I drove on to MN with other toys. |
