Ok, so some of you know that I have been waiting over 5 months for the return of my Form 4 (individual).  My check was cashed in mid March and went pending May 1st.  I now call again and guess what.....there is no record of me or my suppressor in the system.    I called the shop where I made the purchase and he was told the same thing, no record.  Now I have to get a copy of the cashed check to prove that they did indeed cash it and I guess we will see where it goes from there.  I hope that I don't have to go get more finger prints and all that jazz and start over again.

I'm telling you this is why I try to have at least 3 or 4 Class 3 deals going at once.

One of them is going to drag out (my Uzi shipped from Ohio to FFL to me is on month 8!) and disappoint you.

At least the others would be coming in to make you feel better.

Sorry to hear about it. Go buy yourself something cool.

That sucks man. I've been waiting since April for the first from 4 to clear on my Mini Uzi. The way things are going it looks like it'll be 2010 before I see it.

since you know what date it went pending you may know who your examiner is.  I always ask who my examiner is the second I find out I am pending so if something like this happens at least you can speak with them and see whats up and if its hiding on their desk or something like that.

Do you know the examiner?

how long does it normally take to have your check cashed?

They waste no time cashing the checks.....usually within a week.

To make you feel a little better,  two of my M11s Form 5 took almost a yr.  from prolonged paperwork (due to laziness) to lost paperwork (when sent to department).  Didn't even get the real stamps, but just copies of the original ones as originals.
By the time, I picked them up, their prices were double .  This was several years ago when NFA branch was in Chicago (?), I think.

Someone got busted a few months back for opening the NFA mail at the drop box, and pocketing the checks themselves. The person got busted, but a lot of paperwork never made it to ATF.   If you are in correspondence with ATF, be sure to include a copy of the check - front and back.

An honest to goodness ATF cancellation on the back of a check is pretty simple - just a "FRB CLEVELAND OH" or something similar.

I called the bank today and they faxed a copy of the check to the the Gunshop were I purchased the suppressor.  I guess it is in his hands now.

When I called for the status about 1.5 months ago is when they said it went pending May 1st but I never thought to ask the examiner's name so I am SOL in that dept.

Same thing happened to me. Once they got the faxed copy of the check it magically reappeared in the system again. I have no idea what the problem was but they must've had something messed up and the check was able to clear it up for them.

Did they put it to the front of the processing or did you have to wait longer?

Well, almost another month down and no news.  I sent a copy of the cashed check to my dealer and my dealer fowarded it to someone at the ATF.  As of today, still nothing in the system.  ATF said they couldn't help me out but I could call next week and try to talk to the section chief.
