| Hate to ask this question because I know I have read the answer here before....but.... I finally bought my own house and have a real permanent address!! Is there a form or do I just write a letter? Thanks. |
| I'm pretty sure there is a form at the post office you need to filll out. You may be able to do it online. I wish my ex would get hers done, I'm still getting her mail after three months. A lot of very important, like military orders, bank statements, and the like. I don't know though if she did a change of adress or if it's taking this long to finally get it through the system. Hope this helps. |

Thanks. Just write a letter, saying you're the registered owner of (NFA item) serial number (whatever) and listing your new address. If you want proof that you notified them, send the letter i duplicate, with a request that they stamp one copy "reveived" and mail it back to you. Otherwise, it could literally be a year or more before they send you a letter acknowledging the change. |

I should have been a little more specific, I meant with the ATF. Also it's an instate move. instate moves require NO notification to the ATF. out of state moves will require a 5320.20 to be filled out correctly and mailed to the NFA branch. The form must be received back and approved before you cross state lines! (AOW's and Silencers are exempt from the 5320.20 requirement) |
