Example, the host weapon has been registered as an SBR. The original form shows that the sear and weapon are married.
If you trade or sell the sear with out the host, what would the ATF need to show that the sear and weapon had been divorced.
Would you simply ommit the information on the new form 4 about the host weapon?
Would the ATF need a letter stating that the sear had been divorced from the host weapon?

This is an old letter and the ATF has a history of making shit up as they go, but maybe this can help.

Write to them and include the letter for a specific determination for your case.

Letter

ETA If you have a form1 for the SBR you make after the divorce and a form4 for the sear, then I THINK you are good to go.  At most you might want to notify the ATF that the host and sear are now separated.

Sear in a registered MG is a whole different ball of wax.................
SBR + Sear sounds like a typical HK.

What do you mean? The SN of the host is in Box 4h? If so, just leave box 4h blank on the next form.

Always leave 4h blank, IMO. Why complicate your life.

How to sell a divorced HK drop in sear -

4a - Fleming / S&H / Vollmer (who ever made the sear)

4b - Machinegun sear (however it is listed on the current form)

4c - copy from current form

4d - N/A or HK sear (what does the form say)

4e - N/A

4f - N/A

4g - serial number on the sear

4h - enter nothing, there is nothing to enter anyway...

Provided the firearm (host) is registered on a form 1 or made Title-1 legal, then you is free to carry on.
