there isnt like a non transferable tax stamp or nothing damm i gotta have one of these!!! what about the acctual owner of my company how could he obtain one because he has a class 3 weapons manf. license? how much do those cost? ive been thinking about starting to make ar upper and lowers to sell anyways.

Have them build you a semi-auto version to keep your collection intact. If that is the only one they ever make, it will be even more unique as you will have the only one in civilian hands.

The only other options would be if it is a AR type. You can obtain a registered M-16 lower(or complete) and rebuild/refinish to the specs of the gun you are talking about. It would not have the same serial number. Or obtain a RDIAS for the above gun. Both of these options will add about $10,000-$14,000 to the above cost.

i'm not trying to be an ass here, but if there were a cheap and easy way to get new machine guns, do you think we'd all be paying $25,000.00 for 30 year old MP5's?

YOU cannont own a new machine gun. period. you can own/start your own company that can own them though, but the licensing and fees associated with this will still be expensive and will need to be maintained. i believe you could also have you boss list you as a corporate officer at your place of employ, which, by the sounds of it is properly licensed to manufacture machine guns. as such, you'd be allowed to *possess* the arm in question for certain purposes, but YOU could still not OWN it personally.

getting a license to obtain "cheap" machineguns is illegal

You keep asking all the wrong questions.
I have nothing further to add.

posts #3,4,5,6  all in this thread .

getting a license to obtain a "new MG" would also be illegal.  new mg's are available to SOT's but only as sales samples for LE demonstration.
if you want a MG .. pony up the money and buy a transferrable.

yeah me either, those things suck!

j/k

"work" can have it and let you touch it on premises (assuming all their paperwork is in line), but you cannot.
where is "work" and why are they suddenly getting into the machinegun business?

if its inside the boundaries of the USA .. it will be classified as a Post-86 Dealer Sample machinegun and is only lawfully posessed by either the manufacturer on an ATF Form 2, a Class 3 dealer on an ATF Form 3 with a letter from a police department requesting a demonstration, a Police Department on an ATF Form 5 (departmental use)

It's out of reach for an individual.

Well, BearCat187's profile says he is in Guam. What manufacturers are based there?

This would be a good guess. I'd say he is making AR/M16 type weapons, and just wants one with a fun switch. He says that he wants to start his own company to make uppers and lowers, so that would be my guess. But that's worth what you paid for it. Nothing.

You do understand that your being added as a corporate officer at your current place of employment will only allow you to possess the MG by yourself or store it at your home.  You cannot and will not have any proprietary ownership of it.  If you lose your job for any reason, then the gun will have to go back to your company or be sold to an SOT or law enforcement entity.

There are easy ways around that (loss of corporate office) but I don't know if his "boss" wants to restructure the entire corporation just so one employee can possess a MG.

Wouldn't it be easiest if he just became a SOT and got the LE letter?
