OK I want to build a SBR..I have a lower I want to build it on and at somepoint I will buy the upper for it.  So can I just register my lower now or do I have to have both upper and lower to register it?

On forms does it ask for length of barrel and stuff like that?  Can I just start the process with only my lower?

Thanks

yep ..... you need the lower for the make, model, serial number.

the only reason to have the upper right now is if you own a pistol lower.  otherwise don't do it.

list the intended bbl length and list an overall length.

wait ....... stamp gets approved ... you can then build the gun as you have the time/money

You have to know the overall length of the gun if you know what you want just post the barrel length you want and muzzle attachment you want for it and I'm sure someone here can give you an overall length.  My 10.5 LMT rifle has a total length on 26.5 with the standard LMT flash hider.
I hope this helps.

Thanks it does help me out..one follow up though.  How do you measure total lenght, with stock all the way in or out?

I am getting the CMMG 7.5 MedCon upper with A2 hider, if this helps out.

Fully extended...

For non-scientific measure...  Measure a current title 1 rifle, set up like your proposed SBR (less short barrel), and subtract the difference in barrel length.

Since you are in Missouri, you need to obtain and maintain (at least) a C&R FFL to own most NFA items.  Since a trust can't get an FFL, your choices are the individual route or the LLC / corporate route.  I recommend going the individual route, unless you absolutely can't get a CLEO signoff.

Where did you get the information on the C&R license in Missouri?  I have researched and even called the ATF office for the forms and they never metioned or told me I needed to get a C&R...

Thanks

C&R NFA may be owned without a license ..... if the NFA is NON-C&R eligible .. you got to have a license to satisfy Missouri's retarded law.
