| On the form 1 What lengths are legal? If I'm going to SBR i want it short. If i go with the 7.5 bbl will they approve it or do i say 11.5 and buy a 7.5? What would the total length of a 7.5 be, 25.5? |
|
any lengths are "legal". hell, you could fill one out for a 24" barreled "SBR" if you really wanted... complete the forms for the configuration that you will be using most often. if you run an 11.5" upper on a 7.5" SBR from time to time, nobody cares. they only require notification of a change if you intend that change to be PERMANENT. |

If you are registering it as a NFA SBR .. ALL barrel lengths would be legal to use. However you must list your specific intended bbl length on the F1 and it needs to be less than 16". SBR is an SBR .. get it registered with the intended use barrel length and then put it together upon approval. If you change bbl lengths its no big deal. ATF requests that you notify them of permanent changes .. but it is not required by law. |

NOT TRUE .. they won't approve an SBR with a 24"bbl as that does not fall into an NFA catagory. Notification is requested but not required. someone needs to bone up on laws and regs before they go giving advice like its the gospel. |
