| I ordered a 10.5" barrel. Had it shipped to my local gun store as I didn't have my form one back yet. I went to pick it up and the guy said that is sbr and is a class three item. He said he needed my form 1 so he could fill out a 4473 for me to take it. Does this sound correct for just a barrel? It could be used on a pistol upper for all he knows or I could be putting a 5.5 comp. on it. Is a barrel alone a class three item? |

Thanks guys! I should have know. When I went in there before I knew anything about NFA. They didn't know the process for building a sbr using a form 1. Once I get this straightened out that's it for them. Just tell them it's for a pistol. In fact, if you're going to SBR an AR15, that's the easiest way to go anyway. Just start with a pistol lower or a bare receiver and build it into pistol configuration. That way, you can still possess and use your short barrel while waiting on your NFA paperwork. |
