[ARCHIVED THREAD] - 5320.20 Question

For the people who are getting a 5320.20 form approved for 1-2 years at a time so they can travel to another state with NFA items, what are you entering for the "Reason for Transportation of Firearm"? I live in Oklahoma but still have family and friends in Arkansas that I would like to go back and shoot with and take my SBR and suppressor. I was just not sure what the reasons that have been approved already were and couldn't find anything in the search. I know I don't have to have one for my suppressor but would rather be safe than sorry. Thanks.

I really don't see why vacation or family trip/travel would be denied.

I use "recreational shooting". No problem.

How are you getting approval for 1-2 years? What are you putting for dates?

I don't know about two years, but I've had no problems with one year. You can put down something like 8/1/2008 through 7/31/2009.

Thanks for the info. I have not been approved for anything but wanted to see what others have used with no problems. That way I can reduce or eliminate any delays in getting the approved form back.
