what will i ahve to do to remove a form 1 from registry. can i do this over the phone or will they ask me to send a letter?

i'm going to take off the barrel and sell the parts seperatly. i still have other registerd NFA. my main concern is the removal process, how long will it take?

You have to send a letter, phone won't work.

If you want to sell the gun as a Title I, then you would be wise to wait for the confirmation to come back before sale of the receiver.  Mailbox to mailbox should not take longer than 2 weeks.

You have to send them a letter (I had mine notorized) telling them that the weapon has been restored to a Title-I firearm - it now has a barrel that is 16" or longer. State specifically that it now has a barrel 16" or longer - for some reason they like to hear that.

Make sure you include the make/SN/..... and attach a copy of the Form-1 for the weapon.

The one I did (SGW AR-15 SBR back to Title-I weapon) took about 8 months and many phone calls before I finally received my confromation letter.

Good luck!!!!!!

Maybe things have improved since the move to WV, I did mine while things were still in DC  ................ but now with the NFA division grossly under-staffed, I doubt it ................
