I currently own a Remington 870P 18"bbl shotgun.  I was considering purchasing a 14"bbl and converting my Remington to a SBS.  I was wondering if this was even a (legal) possibility to do, and how I might go about doing it.

Thank you in advance for your time.

Sure it is legal. I just got my form 1 back to do the same thing (pic below). A Short Barreled Shotgun (SBS) follows the same procedures as for a Short Barreled Rifle (SBR). Info at this link.

Just a reminder: Until you have the approved, signed Form 1 in your hands, you cannot legally possess both your Remington and the 14" barrel, regardless of whether it is installed on the Remmy or not.

+1 to what Tony_k said. Do not have the barrel until after you have your approved form 1 back.

If you find a place to buy factory short barrels, please give us a heads up.  I've been searching for one.
