What is undergone by an existing (01)FFL when applying for SOT?

Are there inspections?  Is it about the same as getting the 01 FFL?  Is it just a matter of dropping a check in the mail?

Thanks in advance for any help.

drop the check in the mail and get a federal EIN.

An 01 FFL is gonna reqire an EIN as well.  Is a seperate EIN neccessary for the SOT?

Anyway, it is as simple as dropping a check in the mail and waiting for the a reply!  I assumed there would be some type of inspection process, etc.

Get your EIN, fill out the application, MAKE A COPY OF THE APPLICATION, mail off with a check.
No inspection. This is simply a tax. There is no approval.

The reason you make a copy of the application is because that IS your SOT until it comes in the mail.

The SOT is valid as soon as you drop it off at the post office. You can do transactions the same day as you mail it out.

Wow.  I had no idea it is that easy.

I am sure that it may very from manuf. to manuf., but I suppose that until I get a receipt or whatever for my payment, I just mail/fax a copy of the app. to the manuf./dealer?

Also, I can use the same EIN as my FFL/business, yes?  Or does this require a seperate EIN.

Sorry for all the questions.  Obviously I don't want to monkey this up.

Good job on asking the questions before. Looks like you got it.

The copy of the app is legal to do transfers. Whomever you buy from may or may not accept it. I never tried with just the app. NFA branch says its OK.
If you have an EIN for your gun business, then you are fine.
