Why were some FNC semi's imported with 3 Rnd burst marked and some not? Was this a case of the marked recievers being earlier exports; initially FA and auto sear removed for export; the 3 removed on later export to meet sporter look? How about if you buy a rifle not marked 3 Rnd and you send the rifle to S&H? Will S&H be able to install 3 Rnd burst and mark the reciever 3 as an original marked reciever. Thanx for your time, BD1 |
| Curtis Higgins will mark and refinish the FNC lower for a 3 round burst on all of his conversions, whether there is a 3 round burst mechanism in it or not. He does them all the same way in case you want to add it later. Last time I checked, he's getting $550 with return shipping for the sear installation service. |

I'm not an expert by any means (best to post this question on www.fnctalk.com but I know that the semi's I've seen were all originally marked "S, 1". I've never seen an originalsemi that was already marked with the auto markings "3, A". If you request it, when he installs the sears Mr. Higgins will remark the receiver with "3 and A" to match the factory full-auto look. So you will have "S,1,3,A" marked on your receiver. Looks factory to me. I personally haven't seen any FNC's that were originally full-autos that got imported as semi's or were later converted to semi's. Doesn't make any sense why someone would do it but that doesn't mean it didn't happen (but would it pass muster under the 1968 GCA?) The only complaint I hear about Mr. Higgins is that he takes his time and won't convert FNC's until he has a large batch of them. Some people have waited a year to have this done....and I think he just did this year's batch a few months ago. If you search the archive server under my username there is one post I authored which had a lot of photos showing the internals and how the FNC auto sear and burst kit works. You can also install the 3rd burst yourself, it is extremely easy and I have instructions in the post I mentioned above. |
