For length of barrel it has 10" on the form 3. So my question is I am going to put a 7" barrel on my RR so should I put down 7" barrel on my form 4? I thought MGs had no barrel requirements. My secound question is that on the form 3 under Caliber it has 9mm, .223. I am shooting a lot of 22lr. so should I add that to the calibers? Thanks! |
I put 10 inches on a form 4 for transfer of a SBR receiver only AK, and 14.5 on an AR SBR receiver only. Neither had a barrell. I don't really think it matters as long as the barrel length or OAL are less than 16" or 26" on an SBR. I think that the bbl length on a MG is just descriptive fluff. My opinion. Also, I don't think it matters for caliber. I would just duplicate what is on the F3 for caliber and bbl length to prevent confusion. Again, my opinion. |

Barrel length matters not on any NFA transfer, MG or otherwise, but you'd be doing the correct and concise thing by listing exactly what length the gun transfers with. If it has a 7" when you ship it, then put 7". If it still has a 10" barrel and you plan to add a 7", then you put 10" and be done with as you can add whatever length you want after the transfer. If it is a receiver only, you put "Receiver only" or "N/A". Your transfer will be unaffected regardless of what you put on the form for barrel length, but you might as well just put what it actually is at the time of transfer. |
Nope, caliber and barrel length are equally unimportant, but it cannot be both 9mm AND .223 AND .22LR at the same time. Whatever the gun actually is in terms of barrel length and caliber at the time it is transfered is what you should add to the Form 4. There's no value in caliber and barrel length stacking, it just clutters the forms and makes it look like you don't know what you're doing. |
