[ARCHIVED THREAD] - SBR Form 1 Question

When filling out Form 1 what's the best way to answer questions that do not apply to me, such as questions #3a, #5, & #6a? Leave it blank or put N/A? I had my C&R renewal application sent back once because I put N/A on a question and I don't want that to happen again.

Also, what do you put for question #4i, reason for making a SBR? I really don't have any particular reason other than the fact I want a shorter barreled AR for home defense.

I've used N/A on my form 4's and form 1's w/no problem.

For ther reason, I used "for all lawful purposes and to enhance my firearms collection", again, with no problems.

Thanks Scott. I'll use that. Do you know if you are supposed to send the form to the West Virginia address or to DC? It says send to the address at the top of the form, but there is no street address, just "National Firearms Act Branch, BAFTE Washington, DC".

+1 i almost made a thread about question 4i, because i can't just say that short rifles are simply badass.

how do they feel about target shooting and collection purposes.

is it legal to hunt with an sbr?

I just put "All lawful purposes" on mine.

That will vary from state to state. You will need to check your state's hunting regulations.

Send it to the W. Virgina address.

I recall that NFA Dan (works for BATFE approving these things) said they will approve most any reason that is lawful. In the course of the discussion, I believe even "Because chicks dig 'em" would be approved by BATFE. I think he also said they got a Form 1 with something along those lines on it and it was approved... and passed around the office for a laugh.

A search would probably turn up the thread.

mybe this has been coverd but i did not see it bu what do i put for

4e length of barrel --- I will be using multi barrels 12.5-18"
4f oal--- i dont know the OAL of the 12.5-18" uppers
6a---Employer ID--- do i put NA
6b--- Class---- N/A again?

6a and 6b have to do with FFL licensee's

all of section 5 & 6 is n/a on my approved form 1. i am not an ffl.
