Stupid question from myself, but here goes.
I am active duty military, can I leagally purchase a 3round burst or full auto for myself. I see advertisements all the time saying for Military or Law enforcement only. anyone have any good ideas or is this just out of the question.

Sure, you can.  Purchase a pre'86 registered NFA M16 for about $13K on a form 3 or 4 and you're good to go.  Otherwise, it ain't gonna happen.

The references to "military or law enforcement" mean they are for sale only to military agencies or police agencies, not individuals. You CAN own an M16, but you have to do it the same way the rest of us do - spend BIG cash on a pre-1986 transferrable weapon, live in an area that permits it, etc.

I wouldn't be too quick to rule it out.  I saw a 19 year old get a CCW because he was in the military.  I thought he was wasting his time trying but the Sheriff signed off and issued it.  I thought that exemption for military meant carrying an issued weapon in conduct of official gov't business, but I am telling you he got the CCW!

Huge difference between CCW (local/state law) and NFA.
