| If I wanted to become a dealer how would I go about doing this? Thanks jm |

It's not that hard. First you have to fill out the requisite forms. ATF F 7 is for the regular Federal Firearms License. Have to have one to be a CIII. Then you have to pay a Special Occupational Tax (SOT) that I believe is $500/year. The fee for the FFL is $200 for 3 years. Go to www.atf.gov for more info or call a local field office and ask for the Industry Operations section. They are the ones that issue and inspect licenses. Hope this helps. |
Thanks for the info JM

I've thought about this myself. There must be more than a class 01 dealer and 03 SOT. Does this buisness have to be open to the public? Does it have to be zoned in any certain ways? In Ohio I would have to establish a DBA then get a Vendors License so I could collect state sales tax. |
There's really not much else. You must state on your application for the 01 the hours that you are open. Some put by appt. only. Your inspector can help you with that. You must also go by any zoning rules for your area. City hall or the county can give you info on that. |
