The short barreled Saiga 12 gauge over in the Class 3 firearms forum got me thinking.

What is the process for getting one of these registered as a SBS?  I guess the same thing could apply to a short barreled rifle where the barrel can't be removed easily.

Can you buy the gun, file a form 1, get it back approved, then send it to Tromix to be modified?

Or do you send them the gun, they build it, register it on form 3, transfer it to your dealer, then dealer to you on form 4?  I know this is the way you do it for some integrally suppressed guns.

I'm just wondering.  I'm about start the search for one.  The difference for me would be $100 dealer transfer fee and a few more weeks for it to transfer to my dealer especially since I'm in Louisiana.  We have to get approval from the LA dept. of public safety (the state police) for the dealer and again to me.

You could do it on a form 1 and have Tony repair the gun for you if he wanted to. Not up to you but up to him if he would do it that way.

Or he could register a gun on form 2 then form 3 it to your dealer, then form 4 it to you.
