Friend of the family has a stuck ball.  BP isn't my thing.  How do they get it out?

Another option.

Pricey, but it works well and is very easy to use.

Caplock...remove nipple, dribble as much 3 or 4F powder as possible down into breech, replace nipple, cap and fire
Flintlock....remove touch hole liner, see above for powder...replace liner, prime and fire....

Is the stuck ball fully seated?
Did your friend dry-ball, or is there powder under the ball?
If there is powder under the ball and the ball is only part way down the barrel do not try to fire the ball out.

A CO2 ball remover is a good investment.

THIS.

just an fyi,  there are two kinds,  one works on regular co2 cartridges that you can get anywhere,   there is also another one that is usually cheaper, but uses cartridges that are a bit larger, and more expensive.

You can also get a grease fitting that will fit in the nipple threads.  Messy, but it'll work when all else fails.
