Hello in my haste and apparent lack of concentration* I seated a ball without powder in my Filli Pieta .44 cal 1851 Navy Blackpowder revolver. Who knows how to get it out?? thanks *edit: I know that statement sounds scary, but in my defense, it was seated in the 6th chamber kept empty for safety purposes. In retrospect thats not a great excuse... please help any way, thanks |

if your back at home shoot it with a air compressor nozzle or get one of these for future mis-haps c02 load discharger |

problem solved. took me a long to time to get around to though...geeze Knocked out the pin that releases the barrel and cylinder, unscrewed the nipple with a nipple wrench, and simply pushed the ball out with a blunt object, careful not to scratch the interior of the cylinder. Duh and then proceeded to shoot many cans and other formerly useful debris |

I was scared I would do that, I'm still a n00b to black powder. I've got a stainless Pietta '58 Remington .44. I've got some brass rod I can cut when it happens, but to help prevent it, after I charge a cylinder, I put a dry wad there and seat it with a wooden pencil (or dowel) so I won't forget and double load it with powder. If it doesn't have a wad, I won't load a ball there, either. I've already caught myself getting distracted and ended up throwing powder straight from the horn into the cylinder. Luckily, I had a dry wad in the loaded cylinders already, so I didn't have to dump the whole thing, just that one cylinder.. I bought a cylinder loading stand, I wonder if the center pin is small enough to fit in the nipple hole? I'll have to empty a cylinder to check it tomorrow...dang shame to "have" to go shooting. ;) |
