Getting back into blackpowder shooting. Long ago, when I had a cap n ball revolver, I remember these rubber rings that secured the cap on the nipple. Anyone that can tell me the maker of these and where to find them. I've looked, but have come up empty. Thanks.

Plastic rings. Haven't seen them for years.
But they were basically just short sections of the type of tubing used in such things as aquarium aeration systems. Buy some and cut them yourself.

I bought some at Bass Pro awhile back to help waterproof my black powder rifle. When I need more I plan to find some tubing and cut them myself.

Thanks for the replies. I finally found some on Ebay, though I'll look into the tubing. I appreciate it.

Why are these needed? I have hundreds of rounds through cap and ball guns and have never seen a problem

I agree.

Buy a smaller cap (maybe #10 instead of #11), try a different brand (some run smaller/larger than others) or squeeze the cap a bit to tighten its fit before you put it on the nipple.

Have you (or anyone) ever had a cap fly off the nipple when shooting (pistols mostly). I have and found these work well. If there are any tricks or tips, I'd appreciate the input.

I've truly never had that happen but I do make sure my caps are a snug fit. Try another brand or another smaller size I'd say.

Power,
I'll try the different size cap. I usually run CCI.
