Hey I could search, but who doesn't like some carcano porn? Just bought this with 2 clips and 12 rounds of ammo. What is it and where to get parts to restore?

Looks like a Finnish army SA mark, m38 short rifle in 7.35x51.

Not worth restoring unless you can find a non- bubba'd parts donor.

It is a late X prefix Terni though.

Yeah finding the parts cheap enough to be worthwhile would be tough. I didn't have a carcano till now. It will give me something else to forget to look for at a gun show.

Remember no one factory loads (that I know of) the correct bullet for this guy.  And only Hornady makes the bullet in the correct size....you really have to hand load for this guy.

I have what appear to be 12 rounds of ball that came with the rifle. I'll get a picture of them up later. Was thinking if I shoot those it might reduce the value of the package by 50%.

I'm not planning on shooting the rifle though I did see dies on gb and eBay.

I reload for them....also those sites (provided they are not mucked with) are set at 300m.

They really are not a bad rifle....they do not use the "normal" sized 6.5 that everything else uses....IIRC they want 268 and that is a little fatter then other things.

With the correct bullet and a gun that is not been abused they will shoot just as well as anything else from that time frame.

My loadings have the guns I own to a fist sized group at 200.

It has a bright shiney bore and good crown. But I have others in more readily found chamberings that don't get shot. Doubt this one will. Should probably move them on to someone who will.

Carcano rifles just don't really have a following like other nations....add to that a sportered version is going to cut down the value even more.

Carcano clips run around $10 a pop if they are not in too bad a shape....IMHO the gun.....just not much value there....sorry.
