If you mean the Spanish FR-8 and similar, they're neat little carbines and good-to-go (as 'large ring Mausers, modern pressures aren't a problem).  I have one in my closet and the only thing done to it was a subtle shortening and recoil pad on the end.
Yeah it totally destroyed the 'collector value' but it was never really going to have any anyway.

Don't know specifically what you are looking at, but any of the large ring Mauser variants are interesting if not overpriced. FR8 is popular and continues to increase in value for unmolested samples.

I have a 1916 Mauser in .308 that was arsenal conversion, not FR-8.  Bought it at a garage sale with scout mount for $135 two years ago.

J G sales has a special 179 but it looks like it needs work though
But I am wondering clean it up it might be worth it
