Hey all - when you guys shoot the American WW1/WW2 rifles in .30-06 do you use the Garand type ammo? Just curious. I see it pop up now and again at online distributors. No reloading in the forseeable future for me. Might have to start someday though. That .30-40 Krag is getting hard to find...

Thanks in advance!

All WW1/2 30 cal ammo is garand safe...and safe for all .30cal weapons

The only real concern with garands and modern ammo is bullets heavier than 180 grns and slower powders.

Any 150grn hunting ammo should be fine with the exception of any kind of "light magnum" loading.

I stocked up on surplus 30-06 years ago when it was cheap and available. I've been shooting it through M1's, M1917's and 1903's. Pretty sure all surplus was the 150 grain M2 ball loading. I think in the stash right now I have Belgian, Greek, Pakistani, South Korean and maybe some American.

Don't forget, ANY US .30-06 headstamped prior to 1953 is ALL corrosive, so clean accordingly....

A single stage setup is not expensive and is ideal for your 30-40 Krag and 30-06 problems.  Don't be intimidated, there are tons of resources here and all over the web.
