I picked up an 03A3 earlier this year and am just now getting around to shooting it. From my understanding the front sight protector is to be taken off before shooting and I can see why, with it on the sight picture is really obscured by the protector. Question is, how the hell do you get it off? I have tried to simply pull it up or push it forward and I can't get the stupid thing to budge.

They are usually tight as hell...and it will mar the finish on your front sight....pretty much you just have to push it up and forward really hard...

IF you can find a USMC protector, you can leave it on...they were made with a higher loop, so it doesn't need to be removed...

Make a loop with wire or paracord through hood use something as a handle and pull it off. Using a little grease helps the go on/ff and reduces scratches.

Best thing though is to not use the hood at all or find a $$$ Rare USMC version that has a larger globe.
