Don't know if I need to post this here or the M1/M1a. I purchased this m1 in early 2001. I have the Bruce Canfield's Complete guide. I was told from several people that it was late 1940. But I think it's early 1941. Can you tell me a little about this garand and a ball park value. the stock only has these cartouche. None on the left side. Every thing seems to be 1940s.

Looking at the serial number chart I use I come up with January 1941.

It's looks like a post war Rock Island rebuild.

That's what I was thinking. entered the serial number in oldguns.net said it was 1940. Can't find much on the receiver drawing #s.

It's a rifle that has gone through a rebuild. Not a original rifle. Depending on bore and barrel wear conditions in the $750- $850 range if not import marked

If you have a CMP cert it'll bring a little more. You can always try and hunt down the parts you need to make it "correct" but in the long run it'll cost you more than buying a correct grade. Personally I like Garands like yours as one can only imagine what it's military service was like.

You can send them (CMP) a request and some money. They will tell you if it was a DCM or CMP rifle.

The quite, they will search their records but they are incomplete. Less than  5 percent hit record
