I've been talking with an older gentleman discussing his norinco sks that he has for sale. He states he bought it new unfired 15 years ago and it was covered in cosmoline, and at that point had it cleaned by a gunsmith and has sat in the safe ever since, still never fired.
He has no pictures so i'm going off of what he told me based on his answers to my questions. On the reciever it says "Made in China by norinco CSI ONT CA." There is no triangle (such as factory 26) however there is a "circle with some sort of logo inside it." I'm thinking maybe they are numbers inside the circle. It does that the 3 chinese symbols after the circle. He says he can't read the letter on the rear sight, and says it has a spike bayonet. He said he looked it up and says it was made in 1986 but not sure they made them that recent.... He is asking $300 and says its the nicest condition he has ever seen (which could be if its unissued unused). He replied to WTB ad I posted. I've been reading up and it seams unless it has a triangle with numbers in it (factory 26, 216, etc), it was made purely for civilian use and has less value. These are from posts that are years and years old, so i'm wondering if the value portion of that statement still reigns true. Is 300 too much to pay for a non-military non triangle marked norinco? I can get a military used norinco online for $320 w/shipping with blade bayo all day. However it is military used and is quite beat up, but all there..... which way should i go to get the most bang for the buck. Shooting quality really doesn't matter, just bang for buck between these 2 rifles. |

un shot and new in box is always the best bet
if it is a correct one and not messed with. i would buy it for 300 if i was in the market for one right now. offer 275 and see if he jumps unshot and not military sks chinese is a good thing, the military ones right now are beat to hell plus the spike bayonet is always a cool thing. i like them over the blade type |
| Do it! There were to norinco SKSs at the shop today for $335. Used, one had no bayonet or lug, the other had only the lug. I've heard that the price is going up on SKSs. I saw 2 others sell for more last week. The one you are talking about is worth more, to me, because it is pre-ban and has the bayonet. These are great guns and you can't go wrong. |

looks new as stated!! Where is the best place to get the bayonet push pin, without threads? EDIT: nevermind, found it on amazon. shipping is 5 bucks for a 1 dollar part but oh well. thanks again guys! Was the bayonet not installed when you bought it? That would most likely make it a post '89/post ban SKS wich meens it'd be illegal to put a bayonet on it. It's stupid, I know, but after 1989 the norinco SKSs that were allowed to be imported could not have a bayonet attached. At some point importers were simply removing them and throwing them back in the box with the rifle. Shit loads of people have put them back on, but it is illegal.

So maybe a stupid question, but do they still make the sks or did that stop in the 80s? Supposedly Norinco still makes them and sells them to other countries. If they were still allowed to be imported here IIRC the cost is around $60. I'm not sure about other countries though as most have phased the SKS out of service and I'm not sure who even buys norincos, ie; civilians, rebels, militaries ect. |
