Can I do this? They are so difficult to find, and I am just curious on the steps I need to take to build my own SVT-40. Any specific websites and links would be much appreciated for the parts needed! Thanks.

Ha !!! I've been trying for three months just to find a sling swivel !
If you have patience, you'll find a complete rifle. They come up for sale a couple times a week on gunboards.com trader forum + other sites like armslist. If you want a headache, try to build one.

That's what I was thinking. Well, I might as well consider it a long term project. Seeing as $1200 is just slightly too much for me to spend on one.

I got mine for 850 I think, just a few months ago. Just search daily they still sell for 800 on occasion and sometimes even less if the seller doesn't know what they go for nowadays
