I've recently come into possession of a Springfield Armory M1903 that I believe to be a NM rifle.  Does anyone have a number either to CMP or SA archives to get this puppy verified?  I'll post pics as soon as I can.

From what I've read NM rifles and mine have these common features:

-Star gauged barrel,
-Polished and serial number etched bolt,
-"C" stock, I think the technical term is Style 7 or 8 for the time period.
-Bolt handle is marked NS for nickel steel,
-All of the correct stock markings to include the serial number in the correct place on the bottom of the stock,
-Rear sight cover,
-NM buttplate,
-The trigger is supposed to be tuned, but I have nothing to compare it to.

Thanks for any help.

ETA: Serial number is in the 1.4 million which should make the production either 1937 or 1938 depending on what chart you look at.

I would suggest either the CMP forums or the Jouster forum. There are plenty of knowledgeable guys on both that can likely ID your rifle.

CMP wouldn't have the sales record and SA doesn't offer the service. SRS would be your best bet for a hit. Feel free to IM me the serial and I'll check it. As mentioned previous, the Jouster M1903 forum would be a good place to get info.

I checked Jouster 1903 forum couldn't really find anything.  I'll IM you the serial number to do an SRS check.

post the same info on jouster and you will get a reply,

the site is slow, compared to this or even gunboards, but the folks that do lurk and post there are top notch

Yes, that rifle was sold through the DCM as an A1 National Match. If you want the sales record, SRS charges $65. Just send them a request letter with the check and you'll get it in a bit.
