| I'm watching an internet auction offering a Smith Cprona 03A3. It has a scant stock with no visible stamps and looks freshly parked. The pictures show a barrel marking ".30-06". I don't ever recall seeing a caliber marking stamped on a 03A3. Does that sound odd? |

Do the pix show the USGI barrel markings that are supposed to be near the front sight? |

Sounds like a replacement commercial barrel. +1 +2 weren't scants all replacements? A very small number of 03-A4s were fitted with scant stocks as original equipment due to shortages of the C-stock, but any scant stock on an 03-A3 is a replacement, yes. |
