Are they all interchangeable? I saw a bayonet for a German 98 that I would like for my Yugo 48.
Sorry for the ignorance. Neez |
| There are many "Mauser" bayonets. You have model 71- 71/84, 89, 91,92/93, 95, 96 and 98. I'm certain it's the 98 you're speaking of. The short answer, is yes, barring tolerance differences between ones made multiple decades in multiple counties in multiple factories (may cause fitting issues) I've never seen a 1898 bayo that wouldn't fit another 1898 mauser. My 1912 Chilean has a VZ24 bayonet on it. My yugos take german 98 bayonets and my K98K can take the yugo blades. |

It'll fit. Should look good on the M48, but it's not a WW1 bayonet.
Easiest way to prove it's not WW1, is that the great war ended in 1918 and this is a M1924 bayonet. I've also seen it called the "Yugo Long" bayonet. $129 is a little steep, I picked one up, unissued condition with perfect bluing for $85. Please not links to auctions haLfLiFe |

for 1898 mausers there are basically 3 types easy to id based on leanth
the long s-98 type that is pre 1900 the butcher blade, eratz, and carbine types of WWI and the WWII bayos which are similar to the WWI carbine types all should be interchangeable except the eratz. |
