| Hello I found an M48 in cosmoline at my local gun store, it was 249 is this a good price on one of these rifles? It was in pretty good shape. |

That seems to be a decent price for them, these days. I wish I bought them back when they were $100 rifles. $250 is reasonable today... I bought mine back when they were $150... Wish I had gotten my C&R about 10 years earlier... Back when there were really a ton of bargains out there. The party is almost over now. Within the next few years all of the cold war and pre-WWII stockpiles around the world will have been sold off and there won't be any more large scale wholesale importation. |

Although we have left the days of 100dollar surplus, you are still talking about a real blue steel and wood rifle that would probably cost a thousand dollars to produce today. It is still really a bargain. Doc This +87. I would rather have any decent milsurp (K-31, M48, No4, SMLE, M39) than any currently produced RemChester... Most places in 'Murcia where your shots are 100 yards, they can do very well as a deer rifle and put some meat on the table with iron sights. |

I believe the last time I saw them offered by a vendor they were $279. Gunbroker shows them selling in that same range, so I think $249 is a good price. Wideners has them for 269, so I think the asking price is fair since you can look it over. Thanks for pointing that out. I knew they had them recently, but when I went to check, before posting above, I couldn't access their site. |
