Hey guys, thinking about getting my C-R. Deals here in NY suck, prices for everything are ridiculous and even average prices for good condition rifles are hard to come by...

Here's my question, from what I understand the bound book must be very accurate and up to date, I have no problem with that. My question is - I already have 6 C&R Rifles I have purchased in the last 3-4 years or so, what would be done about them? I have seen quite a few posts of people being questioned by the ATF about their bound books, and really couldn't find any information regarding this, except one source saying they do not have to be logged at all.

Thanks for the help

These questions come up every month.  Search this subforum and you'll see mine and others posts and BATF links.

Basically, any C&R firearm owned or aquired while not currently licensed are not logged.  Any aquisitions or disposals of C&R firearms while currently licensed
are logged, including disposals (selling, giving away, trading, etc) any C&Rs you have owned for years.

If your license expires and you renew,  you can start another bound book.  What you do with the old one is up to you.  Only 01FFLs need submit their logs to the BATF.

+3  Only rifles that need logged are ones acquired while you are licensed.  Now if you sell a C&R you had before you were licensed, it needs to be logged in, and back out again.

How do you log it in if you can't remember who you got it from or when you got it?

Log the firearm into your bound book showing acquision from you.

Only law referring to personal firearms.
