| I saw a Vz24 at a local shop for $199. It was well used and not a refurb. Is this a decent price? If not what would be a fair offer and what should I look for before making an offer? Thanks in advance for any info. |
| It really depends on what it is. Is it 7mm or 8mm? How's the bore? What markings are on it (If any. Does it have a crest/date on receiver, or is it scrubbed?). If it's an 8mm in solid "good" or better condition, I think that's a good price, even if the crest is scrubbed. Just beware that there are a lot of them out there with sewer pipe bores and a bunch of 7mms that came in from South America that are really rough. I would avoid those. For around $250 (or less), you can get a VG+ condition rifle that still has the Lion crest or date, intact. |

It's an 8mm with a scrubbed crest. Would it be worth $125-150? I think it's probably worth the $200, so long as the bore is half way decent. But, if you can get it for cheaper, go for it! The fact that there are vendors out there selling Yugo M24/47 rifles, in VG+ condition, for under $200, is something that you may be able to use as a negotiating point, if you feel that the rifle is worth picking up. To me, this would be a shooter, so the bore would be the determining factor. As for a "collectable", I would rather pay a little more for something not scrubbed and/or in better condition (I just saw your "fair" rating). Again, as the old saying goes, "buy the bore". My .02 |

Wow. Prices on those have really went up. I got my 2 for $50 each some years ago. They were in pretty good shape and good bores. Scrubbed crests but I wasn't complaining. Yeah, I think the first one I bought was $75 and we were pissed that they cost so much, compared to what we got (from SOG). |
| I got mine for $200 when AIM was selling them. It had matching barrel and receiver with a nice bore, but the bolt did not match and small parts were either not matching or not identifiable as matching or no. Also the wood did not match (stark constrast in color between upper handguard and rest of the stock. Also what suprised me was how "well" the receiver was scrubbed. If you didn't know there should have been a crest there you never would have guessed it ever had one. |

$200 is a good price for a scrubbed VZ24. I have a crested one and at one time had a scrubbed one. Both shoot about the same. The actions on these rifles are superb. The bores however, are generally pretty worn. Even with a worn bore, I can still get 3-4 MOA out of these rifles. Have taken a few deer with my VZ24.
