I bought one when Aim were selling them about 2 months ago. Finally got around to cleaning it as it was hot today. It was covered in cosmoline. Overall it is in great condition all numbers match, not counterbore and about 99.9 % bluing. The bore looks really good and cleaned up nice. The trigger is about average with a lot of creep. Anyways here are some pics.

You lucked out. I got one as well, and it's a force-match. Your wood looks a lot nicer, too. And for accuracy? Mine was hitting all over the target stand at 50 yards. Oh well. You win some, you lose some. Sounds like you have a project gun. Cut it to 16 1/2 recrown, and weld on the front sight. I would bubba the rifle in a hot second. |

Accuracy on these seems to be hit and miss - no pun intended.
they are meant to be fired with the bayonet extended from what I was told. One of my sons friends bought on and it was well off to the side and a pretty wide group. I just saw a pic of the target. With the bayonet extended it was closer to center ( still off) and actually grouped a little tighter but still not a real tack driver. Also check the action screws for a tight fit in the stock. These things recoil heavy and if the action is loose in the stock any, it'll wander all over the place. One other one I did get to shoot had a buggered up crown. Once that was cleaned up it would hold about 3" at 50 yds at best but there were no flyers or keyholes. The fireball can be impressive. I may have to jump on one of these while they are out there. |

Quoted: supposedly the 1943 date ones are a bit more rare compared to 1944 dated rifles (what i read in another thread). good looking gun. Pretty rare. A 7 out of 10 according to 7.62x54r.net's rarity scale. http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinRarity.htm Beautiful rifle and excellent score! |
