Looking to get a Mosin Nagant from AIM>

Just curious about their condition ie; bore .crown, stock condition, etc.

For $70, what do you think I'll get, or is this just the going price?

I know AIM is a respected company, so I would find it hard to believe that they would knowingly sell junk.

So should I purchase or look elsewhere?

All the ones that I've seen from them recently have been good to go. Understand that you run the risk of getting a dark/frosted bore, no matter where you order from, if you're buying it sight-unseen. That doesn't mean it won't be a great shooter, though.

Send Bryan an e-mail...or IM him.

In my experience, yes, they are reputable and they will deliver what they promise.

ETA:  AIM has their own sub-forum.

I received an excellent condition rifle.  Also as a bonus when I checked the markings it was later used by East Germany since it had their mark on it.  AIM does not charge extra for that.  Most other vendors sell the East Germans (when found) for twice to three times the normal cost of a 91/30.

So I consider myself lucky.

LOL QFT...I ordered 2 rounds...then 2 hex's...and when I went to pick up the hex's I ended up buying a M44 that the gunshop had for $135.  I've vowed to not buy any more MN's unless they're Finnish, Polish, Hungarian, or M38, M91, M44, or M91/59

I bought two recently and I can't imagine that they could have found better looking rifles...

Thanks  for a heads up about the AIM sub forum.

If I decide on a round receiver I'll order it in the next day or two. Hex's are scheduled to be back in stock in appx. 3 weeks.  Decisions, decisions....

Although, for the price to buy one of each it is less than my AR's scope mount. lol

One more quick question to the forum members.

AIM has ammo for the Mosin. Russian or Romanian? 2 grain difference, anything else, price is about the same? Any preference?

Thanks for all the great info and helping me spend my money.

I have the russian ammo.  It is good to go.  Have been thinking about getting some of the Romanian.  If there was something wrong with that ammo we would have heard it by now.  I am sure it is good to go also.

Where are the import marks on Aims 91/30 located?

I love everything I have ever gotten from AIM.

receiver IIRC

and as for ammo get one case of both.  Some rifles prefer different ammo, it's just the nature of the beast.  I'm sitting on about 3K of polish ball.

I got 2 Mosins early this year from AIM (one round, one hex).  I did not take the hand pick option.  The round was definitly the pick of the litter, beautiful rifle.  On the hex, the receiver and barrel look great, but the stock I'm not sure about (could be caked cosmoline or who knows) and the bolt takes a bit more muscle to operate than I would like.  I still need to wrap them in trash bags and leave them in the sun (if I ever see warm weather here) to get the cosmo flowing out of the wood and rifle.  With luck this may clear up my only complaints about the hex one.  For the price you can not argue with some minor "flaws".  I have seen worse condition mosins being sold (and actually selling) for more.

My buddies and I just ordered eight from AIM, all of them are in great shape. We are very happy with the order.

The 7.62x54R russian made is shipped in cardboard boxes and ships cheaper than the wooden crate.

I just got a crate of the Romanian from AIM.  It got here 3 days after I ordered it!

I ordered a six pack, but haven't received them.

I also went with handpicked. Maybe a waste of money, but a good shooter for < $100 shipped works for me. 1760 rounds await their arrival.

What sling for a mosin??

You ordered from AIM? A sling is included (along with a few other things).

For me the shipping for the Russian is only $3 cheaper than the Romanian in a crate.  Ammo aside, I would pay the extra for a crate.

Other than being an older generation rifle, is the hex more desirable than the round? Also what is the barrel length?

Held off buying the Mosins, maybe I'll add on to the collection.

Thanks,
