Some one is selling a Nagant Revolver  for $120 bucks with two boxes of ammo, holster, and a cleaning rod. Are they worth buying? I know ammo isn't cheap and can be hard to find or can you use any other ammo with it?

Sure, they're fun little pistols. They have about the worst DA trigger pull of any firearm, however; it's something like 25lbs. SA is heavy but generally usable.

Ammo isn't that hard to find, Fiocchi and Prvi make it, though it can be a little pricy ($25 per box of 50).

You can supposedly use .32 S&W Long and .32 H&R Magnum in them, but I don't recommend it and neither cartridge will seal correctly in the revolver.

Here's my '36 Tula along with a British friend.

Are they worth buying? only if you like oddball firearms, other then that they aren't really that great. I have one I picked up for 50 or 60 bucks more then a decade ago, just for the sheer weirdness of the thing.

someone makes or made a conversion cylinder to shoot .38 out of it. personally, I wouldn't go shooting a different caliber out of the thing that wasn't made for it. but as always YMMV.

They are a fun piece to have if you like historical guns.

And if you want a cheap truck gun you can afford to have stolen, it is a good pickup.

People whine about the trigger pull but mine stays on target very well.

Had one when they first came in and had a bunch of original ammo for it.

Its interesting to see the gas seal work, but honestly the pistol is pretty unremarkable not to mention the cosof ammo.

Are they reliable? Thinking it may be a good truck gun seeing as how it is pretty cheap.

I think you may be thinking of the .32 ACP conversion cylinder.

This one?

Yes, they have a reputation for being extremely reliable even in Russia, which says quite a bit as the Russians are known for reliable small arms. A Tsarist-era Russian officer was once quoted as saying that if anything ever went wrong with one, you could fix it with a hammer.

Fun, accurate and easy to reload for.  I used .30 carbine dies and privi cases.  Load to .32 H&R magnum specs and it's a respectable woods gun.  The DA trigger is heavy but after the pull for some reason the final break comes right on target.  Single action is not bad.  Neat gun from the last century.  At that price it's not a bad deal.

After looking at it first hand and seeing how well it was made I bought it figure that I could shoot the ammo that came with it and turn around and sell it if I don't like it. Can't beat the price should go well with my Mosin

Is the .32 ACP Cylinder worth the price seems like you could get a few boxes of Nagant ammo instead

Not worth it.  Nagant ammo is easy to reload.

I have fired .32 S&W and .32 H&R mag from mine. The cases bulge somewhat and the gas seal feature doesn't work too well, but they worked. As always YMMV.

I have shot .32 longs in mine with no problem at all.  Power is alot to be desired, but heck even with the normal 7.62 nagant ammo, it ain't no powerhouse

I've got one with over 500rds of .32 H&R Mag through it.  Still very tight and solid.  The cases bulge when fired.  But I have yet to see a case split, and some have been reloaded three times.  I do NOT use lead bullets as the lead will build up at the rear of the barrel since there is no forcing cone.  If you take off the grips and left side plate, then clean out the cosmoline and gunk adn lightly lube it, the trigger pull gets much nicer.  Not up to Colt or S&W standards, but a definite improvement.

It is if you load it to milspec.  Unfortunately, the commercial ammo is detuned to say the least.  I am getting an honest 1100 fps out of my handloads with no sign of over pressure.  As always YMMV.

I have all my cases I have shot over time, when i get enough collected, I may make enough off of it to buy another box

Shot the Nagant today not bad at all just used it like a single action and I was good to go. Some of  the brass split on the hotshot loads not sure if thats common? The lack of recoil was nice I could see shooting more often

What can I use to reload the Nagant ammo? I have seen the Nagant Man's 7.62x38mm round but wasn't  able to find any real details or reviews about it. Does anyone know anything about his round?

I use .30 Carbine dies.  You will also need an M expander die and a .30 carbine taper crimp die.  .312 100gr hard cast lead bullet, 4.0 grs of Herco small pistol primer.  The herco is a bit slower and gives me velocity without over pressure.  Go slow, experiment a bit and you will see it is pretty easy with the one extra step of the taper crimp.  I seat the bullets just below flush as in factory ammo and do get the gas seal. Without the taper crimp, you will need to trim the cases slightly and will not get as tight a gas seal but still have functional ammo.

I picked one up several years ago along with a couple of boxes of ammo and still have one box left... the only reason I purchased it was it is kind of an oddball as stated maybe I will be able to get my $$ back from it in say 20yrs

Sounds good I read somewhere that it is a easy round to reload.New to reloading and figured this would be a good round to start with.

They are fun pistols and if you fire them single action the trigger pull is actually pretty good.  I paid $49 for mine four or five years ago and they have gone up in price.  Just make sure you don't buy any of the Russian target ammo in the yellow box.  That ammo is extremely underpowered.

Really well i got some of that ammo with the gun when I bought it.
