Just picked up a Mosin-Nagant 91/30 for 60 bucks from a friend and was curious if there are any markings on the rifle that will tell me the actual year it was built?

Sometimes the barrel shank in front of the receiver on top and under the rear tang. If your rifle has been rebarreled during the years it was in service the tang date should give you the actual manufacture date.

Take it out of the stock and look on the tang of the stock. The receiver date will be stamped there. BTW, where are the pictures?
