I want to buy a semi auto PPSh 41 and was wondering if anyone had any input about them for me?

Sorry to necro this thread from the dead, but I was interested too.

However, I did take a quick glance threw the "ATF" files, and saw it didn't make the "list".

Is this the reason you guys couldn't give anything? Would we have to move to New Zealand?

Great gun, very accurate, no problem hitting a 6x6 inch steel plate at 100yds if you do your part. That is with Romy and Polish surplus. Tons of fun, cheap, low recoil. Gets very dirty.

Hmmm, $795, gonna have to start saving up.

The idea of a drum magazine filled with a lot of cheap ammo for extended periods of shooting was what got me turned on to it.

Aren't the "Parts Kits" available for $200 worth the time or are the receivers hard to come by, expensive?

ETA: Ooops, I had the wrong reciever, I've fixed it.
ETA2: Ooops, didn't change the text under the link.

$450 vs $795..... Kit prices anymore suck! I'm still tyring to get past the $99 or less AK kits from the old days!

Plus, the closest I have to gunsmithing is putting my AR together by my lonesome.
I have no idea about any other costs, the hassles, not sure if I'm even saving anything really.

The originals were a open bolt gun which is a huge nono.

I've had one of these on order from Military Gun Supply since early July 2009.  They were supposed to be shipped at the end of July...well, needless to say I'm still waiting and the word is "6 to 8 weeks".  It's been that way since July.

Getting very frustrated about this.  Have called MGS and all they say is "don't know when they'll be here".

OK, done venting now.

I would have asked for a refund and if there were any issues I would have called my credited card company. Usually you have 6 months where the CC company will fight for you and you are approaching that limit. As a result, you many end up dealing with an endless battle.

My father ordered a 43 from MGS.  While it did take a bit to finally get the rifle, he DID get it.

It's a neat weapon.

a guy on another one of my forums i think he's had one on order since last February or so from the, he just ended up buying one on gun broker and is still waiting for his ordered one. I looked into the parts kit, it looks easy as hell to build if you know how to weld but the large question arises about making it only semi auto which heard isn't cheap if you send it out to the one company that does it not mention it originally has a 10 inch barrel another $200 stamp unless you put a 16 inch but have to extend the barrel shroud. I would love to build a parts kit in full auto an 10 inch barrel but can't which sucks

Received my TNW PPSH-41 from Military Gun Supply today (01/04/10).  Had additional magazines and drums ordered too....they were running low on drums, so I only received 1 drum.

These look like a very fine crafted weapon, can't wait to get a chance to fire it.

this was my thought.  i'm not a C&R expert or MG expert, but i thought the originals were open bolt designs which the ATF frowns upon.  if thats true, it would seem difficult to make a reliably functioning ppsh fire from the closed bolt position.  does anyone know if the currently sold semi-auto rifles reliable?
