[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Israeli Mauser Forward Barrel Band ???

I just bought an Israeli Mauser and this is the forward barrel band on it. It doesnt' seem like it wants to move, and it almost looks like it's secured there pretty tight. Is this something that maybe I can knock out with a mallet and generous amounts of WD-40?

I didn't wanna just start whacking at my new gun without consulting the hive mind first.

You need to remove the cross pin holding the upper band in place.

Looks as though you are missing the sight hood too?

Pick one up at Numrich, cheapest place i could find as i am missing one for my M48.

Have you fired your yet? I bought one about two months ago. Been picking up a a few parts and cleaning it up before I take it out shooting.,
