I got my C&R a few months ago and have not yet put it to use.  I know very little about firearms from this time period.  I'm looking at getting a Mosin Nagant.  What should I look for?  What model? 91/30? M38? M44? Hex?  One of each?  School me.  I would also consider other rifles in the 7.62x54 and x51 calibers, but the price of the Nagants is what has me interested.

Thanks

Well, they're drying up now.

Most of the Hex, M44 & M38's are gone.
Classic Arms has 91/30 sinipers, 91/59's, and regular 91/30's in stock.

Just spend any money you have on These, plus a Russian Capture K98, a Yugo M24/47, and SKS while they last.

The future of the C&R market looks bleak; supplies of all C&R long arms is drying up, and you should pick these guns up before they disappear from the market forever.

About the only place to get a 91/M59 now is Classic. I would get one of these if you want something different than a 91/30.
Otherwise AIM, SOG, and J&G still have 91/30s. I would get the odd ones first laminated stock & hex reciever. J&G and SOG still have these. There isn't much difference between a round and a hex reciever, other than the fact one is round and the other is squared off or hex. There aren't as many hex and I like the looks of them. I also like the looks of the laminated stocks.
Centerfire still has 7.62x54r 440rds for $79.99.
