When I clean my Mosin, I soak that bastard in the sink and shower...

I KNOW I am overcleaning.

I clean:
Trigger Group
Whole Bolt
Barrel/Receiver

How much should I clean?

I know that the barrel/receiver is a must, but should I clean the whole bolt or just the front/extractor section?

Must I clean the trigger guard?

Why are you soaking it?  I guess your talking about after shooting?  Clean the barrel and bolt, wipe it down with oil.  If you shot corrosive ammo, run a couple wet patches down the barrel, wipe the bolt off with a wet towel then clean with solvent and oil.

If you shoot corrosive ammo, clean the bore with hot water or Windex, followed by your normal cleaning regimen, and you should be good.  I clean the rest of the gun like any other weapon, and have had zero problems.
