I've never heard any talk of a Broomhandle being an SBR, so I am assuming, because it is a C&R, the normal rules don't apply?  I'm not really a collectable gun guy, but I've got a hankerin' to pick up a Red 9. (And yes I know what they cost. )

Anybody have any experience with this?

There are a few exception with the SBR.  For example, various old guns like a C96, Luger, etc, can have stocks.  However you couldn't build a new one with a stock, just the originals.

Yeah the rules don't apply since they are so old. You can get your broomhandle with the holster buttstock and be fine. Good choice on the Red 9 also, I always liked those.

From what I remember, the BATFE specifically exempts C96 and original Hi Powers that have a stock.  I think someone posted the rules in the HI POWER section of the FNFORUM.

I shoot mine all the time. Only exception to the C&R SBR is a 4 inch barreled P08 luger with a stock. They were never issued with a stock, only long barreled P08 lugers like the Navy/Artillery models had stocks.
